LUCKY SIXTERS WIN LOTTERY POT
Family scoop £25m each in huge payday
SIX sisters are to host the biggest family party ever after scooping a £153million lotto pot.
The siblings syndicate came forward yesterday to claim the EuroMillions win.
Each sister is set to pocket just over £25million.
One of the family revealed she placed the winning ticket in an Argos catalogue and put it under her mattress overnight for safe keeping until it was verified.
But she admitted: “I didn’t sleep a wink all night.”
The winning ticket was bought from Reilly’s Daybreak shop in Naul, near Dublin, earning the store a £25,000 payday. Irish lottery spokeswoman Miriam Donohoe said the winner was “surprisingly calm” when they called the office.
She added: “There is great excitement. The shop that sells the winning EuroMillions ticket receives £25,000 so it’s a nice payday for them too. It gives the community a huge lift.”
The win is Ireland’s biggest ever. The sisters are now worth more than singer Adele, on £147m.
Five other tickets for Tuesday’s draw, including one bought in the UK, won just under £200,000 for matching five numbers and one Lucky Star.
Ireland’s National Lottery chief executive Dermot Griffin said: “This is an incredible win for an Irish EuroMillions player. And a record win for the National Lottery. We are thrilled. It has been an incredibly lucky period for players on the island of Ireland.”
A family spokesman said: “This is a dream come true for us.”
