THE man who saved Glenn Hoddle when he had a heart attack has told how he heard the star’s ribs breaking as he gave CPR.

BT Sport sound supervisor Simon Daniels rushed to help the former Spurs hero when he collapsed in the studio last year.

Simon said: “It was just a normal day in the studio. We’d done the Robbie Savage show as we normally do.

“Glenn was playing keepy-uppy with Robbie and then I heard someone shout for help. And as I looked I could see someone laying on the floor and I didn’t know who it was, and just my natural instinct was to run over and have a look and see if I could help, and it was Glenn Hoddle, he was laying on his back.”

Simon learned CPR as a police special constable but it was the first time he had performed it.

He said: “I knew that what I was doing was giving him a fighting chance. I was aware that I possibly cracked a couple of his ribs – you just have to keep going.”

Since the incident, the pair have reunited. Simon said: “I went and saw him at his home and the first thing he did is he gave me a big hug and I immediately gave him a big hug back and he went, ‘oh not too hard!’ because he was still in a bit of pain.

“And the second thing he said to me was, ‘You know you broke seven of my ribs?’ and we had a laugh and it was just lovely.”
