BIELSA FANS FLAMES

- By DAVID ANDERSON

TEAM EFFORT: Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa MARCELO BIELSA claims Leeds can use the energy of the fans’ promotion dream to fuel their title bid.

Bielsa knows from his eight months in West Yorkshire how desperate United supporters are to end their 15-year exile from the Premier League.

He has given them hope that Leeds can finally go up this season and he wants his players to tap into the positive vibes.

“The fans’ expectations are legitimate,” said boss Bielsa.

“We know they are thinking about the possibility of the team being promoted. We have the same hopes as the fans.

“We are representing the feelings of many people and this has to increase our strength.”

Leeds are third – with a game in hand on Sheffield United and Norwich above them – ahead of today’s clash with Bolton at Elland Road and Bielsa says he does not know who will go up.

The Argentine added: “In football, it’s very difficult to make forecasts and one of the things that makes football one of the most attractive sports in the world is the fact that it is possible the team that doesn’t deserve to win actually wins.”

He claims this means he can’t say for certain that Leeds will beat Phil Parkinson’s strugglers.

“We are expected to win because of the fact that Norwich won 4-0 against Bolton,” he said.

“We are focused on winning, that’s our first goal. I can’t give any opinion on whether we will win convincingly or not.”
