Ballymoy set to show his Spirit

- by JASON HEAVEY

BALLYMOY (2.50) can show he is up to graded standard with victory in the National Spirit Hurdle tomorrow.

The Fontwell feature has attracted a quality field with Lil Rockerfeller and Old Guard among the seven runners.

But while they both look exposed, Ballymoy and If The Cap Fits have enormous potential.

Ballymoy jumps beautifully and will make an exciting chaser.

He came unstuck in glue-like ground at Sandown last time out when carrying top weight and is better judged on his earlier Ascot success.

He can take this Grade Two contest en route to better things.

Sean Bowen gets on like a house on fire with COUGAR’S GOLD (1.50, nap) and the pair can score again in the opening race at Fontwell.

He is a sound jumper and can either be ridden from the front, like at Doncaster last time, or be held up.

SHEILA’S FANCY (3.55) was an easy course and distance winner last time and the gelding is strongly fancied to double up.

He sprang a 33-1 shock for Jamie Moore on that occasion but will be a shorter price tomorrow.

At Carlisle, LE DRAPEAU (2.40) looks primed to get his head in front in the staying chase.

He was a solid second at Wetherby and Sue Smith has her team in form.

BUDARRI (4.45) won with authority at Newcastle and still looks nicely weighted.

He can follow up at Carlisle in the Racing TV Handicap Chase where the tough-as-teak Doc Carver is the main threat.
