Actor’s mum backs Ricky ‘ginger’ joke

SNOWFLAKES who criticised Ricky Gervais for insulting a lad in his new show have been blasted – by the boy’s mum.
An online row erupted after a trailer for Ricky’s series After Life, featuring a school scene, went viral.
The boy, played by Tom Bastable, calls Ricky’s character a “paedo” as he passes his school, to which he replies: “If I was, you’d be safe you tubby little ginger c***.”
One Twitter user posted: “This is so bad.” Another said: “What parents are willing to let @rickygervais call their kid ‘a tubby little c***.’ Money talks!”
But Tom’s mum Debbie hit back: “This is my son. He is not offended. He knows it’s just acting and we are very proud of him. Thank you for his moment in the spotlight @rickygervais.”
She added: “Fantastic experience he will remember forever. Would like to say he is

proud to be part of this. Ricky is a fantastic human and would like the opportunity to be called a tubby ginger c*** again if there is ever a series 2.”
Ricky replied: “I’m sure he can pop up again somewhere. It was such a great day and he’s a lovely little chap in real life.”
Debbie also pointed out that Ricky was not filmed making the comment and “didn’t say it to his face”. The two insults were recorded separately and then stitched into one scene.
She added: “Enjoy your snowflakeyness while I burst with pride. It is hilarious.”
And Tom’s dad wrote: “All of you that think that Tom has been insulted need a reality check. You are a bunch of morons. Tom loved his day with Ricky. Get a life.” The show starts on March 8 on Netflix.
