WHAT’S HOT TO WATCH TODAY

I’M not sure if you’ve spotted this, but CORONATION STREET murderer Clayton Hibbs is a very rude young man. He proves this yet again in tonight’s hour-long episode (7.30pm, ITV) after his mum Shona has gone out of her way to help him.

Still on the run, this psycho boy of hers is now holed up in some cruddy old warehouse. It’s to there that he now wants Shona to deliver a fat wad of cash, enough to let him carry out the next phase of his masterplan, should he happen to think of one.

So Shona duly obliges. Not because she thinks it’s a smart idea (she’s had to pinch the cash from David, then sneak out behind his back) but because, when all’s said and done, she’s still Clayton’s mum and so she can’t help loving the loathsome little scrote.

And does Clayton say: “Thank you, Mummy,” and give her a big kiss? He does not. Not even when it turns out she’s brought him stuff to eat, including Jammy Dodgers (“I got them specially…”).

Ungrateful git. If I were her, I’d give him hell the next time he does this. Make the little sod eat Garibaldis. Elsewhere, SOFT CELL: SAY HELLO, WAVE GOODBYE

(9pm, BBC Four) sees the synth duo reflect on their 40-year on-off career as they prepare for last September’s one-off reunion gig at London’s O2 Arena. They never quite topped the success of their

1981 mega-seller Tainted Love but they did OK for some considerable while, at least until the pesky old drugs got to them. It’s followed by repeat of SYNTH BRITANNIA

(10pm, BBC Four), in which they pop up alongside the likes of Ultravox and Depeche Mode.
