LEWIS ‘LIGHTEN UP’ CALL

-

LEWIS Capaldi thanks his “big mouth” for his recent huge success.

The rising star, currently No 1 with Someone You Loved, says his carefree attitude has helped him gain a huge following.

And he’s called on fellow musicians to follow suit and lighten up a little.

Lewis told me: “I don’t blame people, or ‘pop stars’ or whatever for being quiet but you can’t take it too seriously, especially on social media.

“It’s a very hard thing to be yourself, especially when people are watching, so I don’t blame them for being a bit reserved.

“I understand why people may, you know, say less, or be more careful.”

Lewis has no problem with saying whatever he likes, which is obviously a big hit with the fans, as his new UK headline tour recently sold out in under a minute!

He laughed: “Not everyone is OK with people talking about the genitals as much as I am on a platform, knowing people will hear it.

“I take the p**s as much as possible and I don’t know if that bothers people. I assume it does, but it is just me. That’s me, sorry.”

The BRITs Critics’ Choice nominee noted what he does for a living is “silly” so he can’t help but take it with a pinch of salt.

He added: “This is all very stupid when you think about it. Playing for people, gigging with them, having the crowds sing your songs back to you, and going to America. “It’s a weird thing. As soon as you start taking it seriously that’s when you get too lost in it all.”

Lewis’s debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent is out in May.
