Maskell are the new voices of early mornings after taking over the KISS Breakfast Show.
At 24 and 21, they’ve both landed their dream jobs. Here, I talk to them about early starts, guests and showbiz lifestyle.
What made you want to get into hosting a breakfast radio show?
Tom: “Chris Moyles is the reason I do exactly what I do. It’s weird to think I’m now doing a show that’s on the same kind of platform.”
And how are you coping with the early starts?
Daisy: “We are a few weeks in and it feels a bit more normal, although I haven’t watched TV in so long. It’s not part of my day now. A late night is like 9pm!”
Tom: “I naturally wake up at 5am now even on the weekend. Apparently, I am tossing and turning from five for like four hours.”
What’s been your highlight so far? Tom: “Little Mix were on the show in the first week, which was absolutely insane. Jesy Nelson pulled a prank on me, saying she was pregnant, which was terrifying!”
Daisy: “We chatted to Sean Paul too, which was really iconic.”
What has been a highlight
showbiz bash for you? Tom: “The NTAs... I stole Emmerdale’s gong. You know what, they did not find it funny. And then I said: ‘Can I lick it?’ and they said: ‘No.’”
Who are your favourite artists right now? Daisy: “I love Anne-Marie. She’s done so well. The girls are doing so well and her voice is just incredible.”
Tom: “Yeah me too. She’s so talented and she writes all her own stuff. She is great.”
