Wiles sees a way to safety

-

ROY KEANE could find himself the first victim of Nottingham Forest’s new internal disciplinary system.

Martin O’Neill’s righthand man was booked in the dugout by referee Roger East as Forest’s play-off bid hit the buffers.

O’Neill revealed afterwards that any potential punishment could be handed out by the players.

He said: “We have a new code of conduct coming in now, internally. It’s something we look at – so if the players want to fine Roy, good luck to them!

“First of all I will need to find out what it was he said. I had an occasional run-in with a particular linesman down here. We had a total disagreement at what constituted a foul.

“Roy’s passion is one of the things I have got him along for. He was a driven person as a player and he is also a driven person as a manager and now in this role, it is pleasing to see.”

Goals from Peter Etebo and Benik Afobe handed the points to Stoke.

The Potters recorded only their second win since Boxing Day and manager Nathan Jones hailed his Nigeria midfielder Etebo.

He cost £6.35m from Portuguese second tier side Feirense and this was his first goal for Stoke.

Jones said: “He has been wonderful. His work rate, character, technical ability and what he does is high level. When you first see him you don’t see what he’s got.

“You see him in games and he is a real game player. He is not a training ground international, he is a proper player.

“I’m delighted with him and there is far more to come. I think he can be better in the final third, better in his passing and he will get fitter.

“He is a much happier player, a much better player. He is going to be even better.”
