United can pass French test says Young

-

ASHLEY YOUNG has warned Champions League rivals Paris St-Germain to dismiss Manchester United at their peril.

United have a mountain to climb in the French capital this week if they are to keep their European dream alive.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are 2-0 down from the first leg of the last-16 clash and need a minor miracle to get through on Wednesday night.

But Young reckons United have the character and spirit to get the job done against the odds.

United showed those qualities in abundance to overcome a stubborn Southampton side at Old Trafford.

Two goals from Romelu Lukaku, including an 89th-minute winner, saw United triumph in a thrilling clash to boost their hopes of a top-four finish.

Young said: “We know what we’re capable of in Paris. People can write us off. People were writing us off at the start of the season and people are writing us off now.

“But it’s no different. Obviously it’s going to be tough. It’s not going to be easy.

“We’ve got to go over there, win the game and score goals. But I’ve got every faith if we defend well and if we create the chances that missed a penalty in injury time. The loss was harsh on struggling Saints, who are just two points clear of the drop zone.

Valery said: “I hoped we would have had at least one point. It was good to score but I would have preferred it if we had won. We are disappointed because we felt like we should have got a point.

“It’s harsh but that’s football. We have to focus on next week now and Tottenham.”
