Lambo looks ready to drop

ROMAINE SAWYERS reckons Brentford must learn to repeat their home form on the road.

Victory over local rivals QPR earned them a fifth straight win at Griffin Park.

The last time the Bees achieved that in the top two divisions was in December 1951 but victory at Rotherham in January has been their only away win this season.

With trips looming to Middlesbrough and Sheffield United, Sawyers says his side must change tack.

The midfielder said: “We’re confident, we know on our day we can beat anyone, but we’ve got to have the same belief away as we do at home.

“Maybe we’ve been a bit naive so we’ve got to analyse it a bit differently.

“We just needed the first 15 minutes to get going today but they were never going to out-football us.

“It’s great to watch us, especially when the front three are on it. It’s ridiculous, especially at home – we show a lot of glimpses about how good we are going forward.”

Neal Maupay slotted home a penalty then turned provider for Said Benrahma before Sergi Canos completed the scoring in injury time.

QPR looked a shadow of the side that stunned Leeds last week, failing to trouble Brentford keeper Daniel Bentley.

The Hoops have lost eight of their last nine.

Boss Steve McClaren said: “We’ve just had nine games in 27 days, we’ve played and recovered, and we’ve had no work on the training ground.

“We’re losing by not doing the basics, which are honed on there – we just haven’t had the opportunity.

“We’re trying to shore things up so we need to get back on there this week – that’s where the hard work starts.”
