Morata keeps heat on Barca

-

ALVARO MORATA’S double kept Atletico Madrid in the La Liga title hunt.

The Chelsea flop was the hero in a 2-0 win at Real Sociedad yesterday, as Atletico moved back to trailing leaders Barcelona by seven points.

Third-placed Real Madrid, who lost 1-0 to Barca following Ivan Rakitic’s El Clasico winner, are now five points behind their city rivals.

Having also been beaten by Barca in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, Real fans turned on their players at the end.

Real boss Santiago Solari said: “We matched them in almost everything. But I can assure you we will compete until the last date.”

Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Manchester United’s Champions League opponents Paris St-Germain came from behind to beat Caen 2-1 and move 20 points clear at the top of Ligue 1.

Borussia Dortmund, who trail Tottenham 3-0 ahead of tomorrow’s Euro return, will still be smarting from their shock 2-1 loss at Augsburg.

Only goal difference now keeps them ahead of Bayern Munich, who battered Borussia Monchengladbach 5-1, at the Bundesliga summit.

Runaway Serie A leaders Juventus beat nearest title rivals Napoli 2-1 last night.

Former Liverpool star Emre Can was on target as the unbeaten champions moved 16 points clear at the top.
