Hylton hero for five-star Moors
JERMAINE HYLTON bagged a first-half hat-trick as Solihull Moors thrashed Maidstone 5-0 with ‘in your face’ football.
Darren Carter and sub Adi Yussuf also netted as Moors kept the title heat on leaders Wrexham who beat Chesterfield to stay two points clear.
Delighted boss Tim Flowers said: “It was a classic game in Solihull Moors’ DNA – in your face with balls in behind and forward and sending the ball into the big men and making it stick.”
Wrexham chief Bryan Hughes celebrated after Akil Wright won a gruelling battle with Chesterfield by steering home Luke Young’s cross.
The Dragons are now six games unbeaten and Hughes said: “Akil has got all the ability in the world to get into those areas and that’s what I’ve been saying to him over the past few weeks.”
Leyton Orient boss Justin Edinburgh tipped Havant and Waterlooville to survive the drop after it took a late Josh Coulson goal to beat them 2-1 at a packed Westleigh Park.
Edinburgh said: “They have enough to stay up. We had to fight to the end to get a result which ensure our title hopes are still in our hands.”
James Ferry’s winner for Halifax denied Eastleigh a sixth straight win in front of their best home gate in nearly two-and-a-half years of 3,323.
Play-off hopefuls Gateshead only had 14 fit players to pick from but still managed to beat relegation-threatened Aldershot 2-0 to extend their unbeaten run to seven games.
