Drag LGBT stories anger

PROTESTERS turned up at an event hosted by a drag queen to promote LGBT rights to young children.

The group handed out leaflets and tried to stop families entering the venue where it was taking place.

Panto dame and drag act Mama G reads to children in an hour of storytelling that aims to defy gender stereotypes.

Story Time With Mama G has been described as “fairy tales with a LGBTQ+ twist”.

The leaflets handed out at Holywell Library, Flints, said the event was “sinful, unsuitable for children and potentially damaging”.

Mama G, who is played by Robert Pearce, 34, said the event is “drag queen storytelling” to promote LGBT rights and is aimed at children aged around five and above.

He posted details about what happened on his Facebook page.

Robert, of Woolwich, south-east London, said: “I had a lovely morning yesterday performing to families at Holywell Library.

“And it was extra special that they were there because people were outside handing out these flyers and trying to stop them coming in.”

FRANK Bruno is fighting pneumonia in hospital.

The former WBC world heavyweight champion is understood to have been taken ill with the potentially fatal infection at the weekend.

His agent Dave Davies said last night he needed “a few weeks’ rest”.

The dad-of-four, who won 40 of his 45 fights – 38 of them by knockout – was at an event hosted by comedian Jed Stone in Harrogate, North Yorks, on Saturday night.

The comic said it was a “great weekend” and praised Frank, 57, as a “legend”. Afterwards, Frank said it was a “great night”.

But he was later admitted to The Horton General Hospital in Banbury, Oxon.

Mr Davies confirmed on the exboxer’s Twitter account: “Frank has contracted pneumonia.

“We must say a big thank you to the staff of The Horton General hospital in Banbury who have treated him. He now needs a few weeks’ rest.”

Dozens of fans have sent supportive messages to him since news emerged of his illness. One wrote: “Best wishes to BIG Frank Bruno

LEGEND: Frank ‘needs rest’ who is currently in hospital after contracting pneumonia. All the best champ.” Another said: “Keep strong big man.”

A further tribute read: “Take it easy big man and get well soon.”

Frank won the world title by beating Oliver McCall by unanimous decision at Wembley in 1995. He retired in 1996 after losing to Mike Tyson in Las Vegas.

He was pictured at ringside for Chris Eubank Jr’s victory over James DeGale at the O2 Arena in London last month.
