Ex-factor brings best from Gray

- By PAUL BROWN

ANDRE GRAY is making a habit of scoring against former Watford managers in a bid to impress the current one.

Supersub Gray came off the bench to end a four-game drought and send Brendan Rodgers home empty-handed on his debut in the Leicester dugout on Sunday.

He had not scored since hitting the winner over Marco Silva’s Everton last month. Those two are his only goals in 13 Premier League games.

But Gray, 27, says the goals are being spread more evenly between him, Troy Deeney and Gerard Deulofeu as Javi Gracia’s side aim for a top-seven finish.

He said: “We’re all fighting as a team. Whoever comes on can make the difference.

“Goals are being spread out and that is better than having that one talisman everyone relies on.

“We have good players in every position now.”

Watford won 2-1 to bounce back from a 5-0 midweek hammering at Liverpool and set them up nicely for Saturday’s trip to Manchester City. Gray dedicated his sixth goal of the season to his aunt who died recently.

“It was a massive mix of emotions,” he said.

“I have had a tough couple of weeks so it was an important goal for many reasons.

“It was unexpected.

She always used to come to the home games so it was important to score in a home game and do that for her.”
