CORRIE star Julia Goulding was spooked by a ghost as she filmed in an old mansion.

Her character Shona Ramsey was held hostage in a derelict building.

But Julia said the tense scenes were unnerving because a whispering spook kept interrupting the shoot.

Julia told This Morning: “We were doing a take and the sound operators had to stop the take because there was lots of whispering over the booms. It was: ‘Please everyone, be quiet’, and all that kind of thing.

“But nobody had been talking at all.

“It was completely silent. “All the crew, everyone watching on the monitors, everybody was silent .

“And this little whispering was happening.’’

Asked what the ghoul was saying she replied: “I don’t know. I didn’t hear it.” The scenes were shot at the Antwerp Mansion in Manchester which was built in 1840 as a family home for a rich industrialist.

Once a former residence of the Belgian consul, it has also been a private gentlemen’s club with a ballroom and snooker hall.

It featured on TV’s Most Haunted after reports of strange flashing lights in unlit rooms, objects moving on their own and the sound of ghostly footsteps.

A youngster died there after falling through a skylight.
