- By JAMES CAVEN james.caven@dailystar.co.uk

MIKE Thalassitis’ ex-girlfriend Megan McKenna last night spoke of her “complete shock” over his suicide.

The former Love Island star, affectionately known as Muggy Mike, was found dead on Saturday, aged 26.

Towie star Megan, 26, said: “Sorry I haven’t been on social media but I’m in complete shock and trying to come to terms with this.

“I can’t believe I’m even writing this post. My thoughts and prayers are with Mikes family. Rest in peace Mike.”

Police confirmed he was found hanged in a park in Edmonton, north London.

Reality TV stars yesterday called for a shake-up of the industry.

And Health Secretary Matt Hancock urged producers to “look after” contestants after making them famous.

TV adventurer Ben Fogle said: “I think television needs to take a long hard look at their aftershow care for reality show contestants.

“As a one-time reality show participant myself I had a breakdown after Castaway. Instant reality show fame is like a drug. A short-term high with a terrible comedown.”

Former Strictly professional dancer Robin Windsor said: “There needs to be some kind of therapy and after-care for people on reality shows who are thrown into the limelight and struggle with what comes with it.”

And X Factor’s Jake Quickenden added: “Before I did reality TV, I was just a bricklayer and you get thrown into this public spotlight, everything is scrutinised.”

Tory MP Mr Hancock said: “I am very worried about the support for the mental health of contestants on reality TV shows.”

Mike’s brother Nick shared the final photo of them with their nan. She died a few days before Mike’s body was found.

Mike had moved in with his nan to take over her care full-time, after coming out of the Love Island villa in the summer of 2017.
