Driver in ‘Gay Pride’ bus row

A BUS driver has been suspended after allegedly refusing to drive a vehicle celebratin­g Gay Pride.

Passenger Rebecca Sears, 19, claimed the driver insisted on swapping buses because the one he was in “promoted homosexual­ity”.

She said the driver was referring to the vehicle’s service number which featured the colours of the Gay Pride rainbow flag.

The sixth-form student added: “He said we have to wait a minute. He said: ‘I am not driving this bus because it promotes homosexual­ity.’”

The incident happened at Norwich bus station on Friday.

Bus firm Go East Anglia said: “We particular­ly want all customers of whatever background or sexual orientatio­n to feel comfortabl­e on our services.

“As a company we do not condone any behaviour from our drivers that does not support this view.

“The driver involved in this incident has been suspended and a full investigat­ion is under way.” MARK Jordon is pleading with Emmerdale chiefs to have him back after clearing his name.

The actor, who played Daz Spencer, was cleared of unlawfully wounding a pensioner during a pub row.

The 54-year-old was also found not guilty of affray and assault by beating by a jury at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester last week.

Now the dad-of-two wants to put his “year of hell” behind him.
