Trump’s isle gag blunder

- By JERRY LAWTON Chief Crime Correspondent jerry.lawton@dailystar.co.uk

DONALD Trump has joked he will not erect a skyscraper on Greenland if he buys the island.

The US president was mocked worldwide after revealing he wanted to purchase the territory.

Now he has tweeted a doctored photo of a coastal town dotted with colourful homes – dwarfed by a giant golden skyscraper with the name Trump on top.

“I promise not to do this to Greenland!” he wrote.

Mr Trump confirmed the idea of buying the semi-autonomous Danish territory had been discussed within his administration because of the strategic benefits to the US.

But he admitted a deal is “not No1 on the burner”.

He said: “Strategically it’s interesting and we’d be interested but we’ll talk to them a little bit.”

But it was met by a cool response from politicians.

Danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen called any talks of a sale “absurd”.

He said: “Greenland is not for sale. Greenland belongs to Greenland.

“I strongly hope this not serious.” A MAN appeared in court charged with the murder of Pc Andrew Harper.

Jed Foster, 20, yesterday denied “any involvement” in the death of the newlywed officer.

Pc Harper, 28, was allegedly mown down by a getaway van as he investigated a burglary a week before his honeymoon.

Foster was handcuffed and flanked by security guards when he appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court in Berkshire charged with murder and the theft of a quad bike. He was not asked to enter pleas but his lawyer Rob Jacques said outside the court: “He denies any involvement in the horrific murder of Pc Harper.’’

District Judge Davinder Lachhar remanded Foster, of Burghfield, Berks, to appear at Reading Crown Court today.

Foster’s mum Jolene was the public gallery clutching Superman teddy bear.

She insisted on social media her son would “never be capable of such a horrible horrific act”.

And she added: “Hang in there my beautiful boy.’’

Pc Harper died from multiple injuries after he was dragged along by a van as he investigated a raid near Sulhamstead, Berks.

His new wife Lissie, 28, had expected to jet off to Australia with him on honeymoon this week. in a
