Rash targets mean streak
MARCUS RASHFORD insists Manchester United are a million miles better this season but admits they need to be more ruthless.
They were held 1-1 at Wolves on Monday night but have four points from their first two league games after thumping Chelsea 4-0.
It is three more than United notched in the corresponding games last term and the latest display was also a big improvement from their pair of 2-1 defeats at Molineux in the league and FA Cup last season.
But despite the frustrations of Paul Pogba’s missed penalty, there was still a lot about United’s quick passing play which excited Rashford (inset).
The striker, 21, said: “I’ve compared it to last time we were here and it’s a million miles off that performance.
“We know that we’ve improved individually and as a team. The result is disheartening but we brush ourselves down and go again.
“We still have things to work on, but it was a decent performance, we were unlucky to come away with just a point.
“We see and feel the improvement but need to show it with results. We have to be ruthless in terms of creating and taking the chances.”
Ruben Neves’ stunning strike cancelled out Anthony Martial’s superb left-foot finish.
And while Rashford was unable to add to his brace from the win over Chelsea, he threaded an intelligent pass for Martial to thump in his 50th United goal in the 27th minute.
Rashford believes their link play is a sign of things to come, adding: “It was a beautiful goal. “It’s something that we spoke about, especially against a team like Wolves that try and defend so narrow.
“There’s spaces as a No.9 to the sides of the box. He was making those runs all game, we have to do better to try and find him.
“If we play it a bit quicker through the midfield, then into the No.10 or the wingers, we can get Anthony on the ball more and start to make things happen.”
