WRISTY BUSINESS FOR JIMENEZ

- ■ by JAMES NURSEY

RAUL JIMENEZ has been playing through the pain of a broken wrist to help Wolves continue their European adventure.

Boss Nuno Espirito Santo revealed that the club’s £33m striker fractured his left wrist in March against Chelsea and has been playing with strapping on ever since.

Jimenez will start tonight as Wolves host Torino in the second leg of their Europa League play-off tie.

Nuno said: “He has a problem. Did he break it? Yes. Do you think it was for fashion, you think he enjoys using it? He needs it, for protection.”

Nuno admitted that opposition defenders may now target their key frontman.

He added: “You never know, I don’t know what the idea is. He has to protect himself if there is a problem there.”

Wolves, who lead 3-2 from the first leg in Italy, are just one game away from reaching the Europa League group stages in the club’s first European campaign since 1980.

It has meant a packed fixture list, with tonight’s game their eighth of the month.

Nuno said: “Raul’s helping the team, knowing with heavy legs he still goes. This is the spirit with all the players.

“It’s the philosophy we tried to embrace since day one.

“What they want is to play and put everything we do here on the pitch.”

Wolves conceded a last-gasp penalty in Turin which sets up a tense evening at Molineux.

Nuno added: “In the last minutes we lost control of the game.

“This is something we have to improve on.

“It’s to do with what your opponents make you do, it’s not just about us, but we have to adapt.”
