Sala sister hits out at CCTV pair

The model matched her outfit with a sultry smile as she soaked up the sun. She wrote to her 10million Instagram followers: “Happy girl.” EMILIANO Sala’s sister has blasted the “wicked and evil” pair who took a picture of her dead brother which was shared online.

The footballer and pilot David Ibbotson were killed when their plane crashed into the Channel.

Sala’s body was found in the plane’s wreckage two weeks later and taken to a mortuary.

Yesterday Sherry Bray, 49, and her employee Christophe­r Ashford, 62, faced court for illegally accessing images which later appeared online.

Crash

In a victim impact statement read to Swindon Crown Court, the 28-year-old player’s sister Romina Sala said her family were devastated by the picture appearing on social media.

She said: “I have seen photos of Emiliano’s body leaked on Instagram, and I cannot believe there are people so wicked and evil who could do that.

“I phoned Emiliano’s agent and told him what was circulatin­g on the internet. I called our brother, Dario, and he did not want to see the photos.”

Romina added: “I tried to keep images off social networks.

“My mother could not those horrible photos.

“I was sad as people were making jokes about it. I’ll never erase the images from my head. see My brother and mother never forget about this.

“It’s hard for me to this image.”

Argentinia­n Emiliano had been heading to the UK from France after signing for Cardiff City when the crash happened.

The court heard that Bray, the director of Camera Security Services Ltd in Chippenham, Wilts, held an out-of-hours contract to monitor the CCTV of Bournemout­h mortuary for security purposes.

But she and other workers would sometimes watch postmortem­s being carried out at times they were not authorised to be looking at feeds.

Bray sent a text message to Ashford which read alongside a vomit emoji: “Nice one for you to watch when you are next in.” can live with And she snapped a picture on her phone which she sent to her youngest daughter and later appeared on social media.

She also used the CCTV equipment to play the post-mortem examinatio­n of grandfathe­r Andrew Latcham, who died in non-suspicious circumstan­ces.

Both Bray and Ashford admitted all the charges against them at an earlier hearing.

Defence counsel Nicholas Cotter said Bray expressed her profound apologies, adding: “Miss Bray should have known better, she had the responsibi­lity to know better – but she opened Pandora’s box.”

Ashford’s defence said he was “ashamed” of his actions.

The pair are due to be sentenced on Monday.
