PREMIER League striker Andre Gray has revealed he is constantly battling racism on and off the pitch.
The Watford forward, 28, said he has copped insults from footie fans online, during games and on the streets.
The former Burnley player said: “You can’t really run from it. If you’re not getting it from social media, you’re getting it on the pitch, you can get it walking down the street or wherever.”
Premier League bosses met with Twitter chiefs last week to discuss tackling racist jibes online.
It comes after Manchester United stars Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba A POLICE horse was punched by a football thug during brutal clashes between rival fans.
Shock footage showed the man whacking the nag before the Portsmouth versus Southampton derby – then being chased down the street by its mounted officer.
Other riot officers who grabbed him are said to have used batons before detaining him.
Assistant Chief Constable Scott Chilton said: “Sadly, we had to prepare for the potential that a minority would try and ruin it for everyone.
“This required us to put plans in place to ensure we were ready to stop that.”
Scuffles
Hampshire Constabulary said the horse, named Luna, was uninjured and remained on duty.
Five men were arrested with one, aged 42, held on suspicion of animal cruelty.
The other four included a 40-year-old man held on suspicion of possessing a firework.
Two men aged 18 and 19 were given conditional cautions for a public order offence.
A 20-year-old arrested on suspicion of a public order offence was later released.
There were a string of scuffles before and after the Carabao Cup tie on Tuesday.
Hampshire Constabulary said the game at Fratton Park, which Southampton won 4-0, was the force’s biggest football operation. were flooded with insults after missing penalties last month.
Gray added: “It’s difficult for authorities to crack down because people are making fake accounts, deleting them and doing it again.
“You’ve got to learn to have a thick skin and take it as it comes.”
