Poch in ‘suffer’ shock
A DERBY player charged with drink-driving after a late-night crash was filmed vomiting in a pub toilet hours earlier.
Mason Bennett, 23, was arrested on Tuesday night along with 25-year-old team-mate Tom Lawrence after the pair crashed their cars.
Club captain Richard Keogh suffered a knee injury which could end his career. The Republic of Ireland skipper is out for the rest of the season.
And the club promised there will be serious consequences as a result of the squad’s boozy night out. Keogh, 33, is believed ■
to have been a back seat passenger in Lawrence’s Range Rover when it left the road and struck a lampost shortly before midnight.
Now Snapchat videos uploaded by team-mate Tom Huddlestone have surfaced.
They show Bennett vomiting into a urinal while fellow players mock him for only having “three pints of Peroni”.
Captioned “youth of today”, someone can be heard telling Bennett “get it all out Mas” as he is violently sick. Derby boss PAGE 41 and (left) MAURICIO POCHETTINO has admitted he is suffering after Tottenham’s poor start to the season.
His side were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by League Two Colchester on Tuesday night.
They are 10 points off the title pace behind leaders Liverpool and blew a two-goal lead to be held to a draw at Olympiakos in the Champions League.
It has raised doubts about Poch’s future, with Real Madrid circling.
The Argentinian has cut a frustrated figure since losing the Champions League final in June and he admitted this week there have been “different agendas” in his squad.
Pochettino said: “Football for me is about the glory. There is nothing more important than the glory.
“When you win, how you feel... there is not another thing you can find like it. I am suffering.
“That is my wish. This is my sixth season here and I am in an unbelievable environment here.
“The training ground is amazing and we have the best stadium in the
(above) Phillip Cocu said the club are trying to work out what happened after a team bonding session at a bowling alley.
Cocu and his staff weren’t around later in the evening and the club said they had provided cars for players to be driven home.
The Rams boss admitted Keogh was upset and said: “I think he feels responsible, yes. It has had a huge effect on him personally.
“He will be out for the rest of the season, it’s serious. There’s a lot going on and he’s extremely down.
“It’s very serious. This is a very bad example. The consequences for our captain and the team are huge.”
Lawrence and Bennett were both charged with drink-drive offences after the incident on the A6 at Allestree. Both will appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ on October 15.
Cocu would not confirm if Lawrence and Bennett would be in the squad to face Birmingham tomorrow.
A club statement said: “While the majority of them acted responsibly and left at around 8pm and were not involved, a small group, including the team captain Richard Keogh, continued drinking.
“They should have known when to stop and also ignored the opportunity to be driven home using cars laid on by the club, and chose to stay out.
“The players involved in the incident will be subject to a rigorous internal investigation.
“We have been very clear about our attitude towards alcohol and the players know that at certain and specific times of the season they are permitted a drink together in a controlled environment.
“Those involved know they will pay a heavy price for their actions, but also that we will support them with their rehabilitation back into the squad.”
