A DJ who “sleepwalked” off an 80ft balcony says he is “lucky to be alive”.

Paul Cartwright broke 28 bones plunging four storeys from his room in Malta.

The dad-of-two had been on holiday celebrating his 45th birthday with his girlfriend Danielle Hickey when he fell.

Paul, a DJ on London-based radio station MuusicFM, spent two-and-a-half weeks in an induced coma after the fall.

“I was out on holiday with the love of my life and bosh – it could happen to anybody. I’m lucky to be alive.”

He believes his history of sleepwalking caused the freak accident.

The father of twin girls, who turned 10 on the day he landed home, said he was not drunk at the time of the accident.

He added: “I love my girls. I’m happy I’m alive to be a dad to my beautiful daughters.

“They have been my guiding light. I told myself I am not going to die like this and they kept coming into my mindset.”

Paul will spend the next few weeks in hospital and it may take him years to make a full recovery.

But he was still able
