IN THE DARK OVER WHYTE JAMIE’S NET PROFIT

-

WE are still waiting on the outcome of the Dillian Whyte case and the question to UK Anti-Doping has to be why?

Why are they leaving us in the dark and why is it taking so long?

It is over two months since his fight with Oscar Rivas and news emerged of an alleged issue with an A sample provided before the fight.

Has the B sample been tested? If so, then why haven’t we had the result? The lack of transparency is concerning for the sport.

This week Nigel Benn announced a comeback at 55 which will be taking place outside the authority of the British Boxing Board of Control.

The sport has enough problems and it doesn’t need UKAD adding to them.

Boxing needs to know if Whyte (below) is guilty or not so it can move on from this sorry mess.

I have contacted the BBBoC to get answers around drug testing but they simply say it is down to

UKAD.

But when ■

Interview by CHRIS McKENNA we try to speak to UKAD, we get told absolutely nothing. They are governmentbacked yet they keep everything so secretive.

How many fighters have had issues with A samples and it has simply been brushed under the carpet? We may never know. UKAD is supposed to be responsible for testing for performanceenhancing drugs which have a direct impact on the safety of boxers.

They have to be held to account more and be more transparent.

But they also have to speed up the process.

Is the Whyte case so complex that it takes over two months to come out with an answer? He either took performance-enhancing drugs or he didn’t.

UKAD need to seriously improve or we should be looking at the money they get from the government to provide drug testing in all sports. It is unacceptable and I fear more cases like the Whyte one if they don’t up their game soon. TOP matchman Jamie Hughes is an eyewatering £110,000 richer after securing his second big-money victory in two weeks.

The Wirral-based angler lifted the Golden Reel trophy, worth £50,000, after coming out on top with 151lb 8oz of carp in a 60-strong contest at Larford Lakes in Shropshire.

That came 14 days after Jamie scooped the Maver Match This title and £60,000.

ERROL SPENCE JNR says he will be the “show stopper” by beating Shawn ‘Showtime’ Porter in the early hours of tomorrow in LA.

The bout is just more evidence of how far Amir Khan and Kell Brook are now off the welterweight top stage.

Promoter Eddie Hearn is having “one last roll of the dice” to make the all-English clash which should have happened years ago.

Talks have been positive with both men mooted to be in the ring again before the end of the year to tee up the grudge match for early 2020.

After a few name-calling press conferences, punters will still snap up tickets and order it on pay-per-view TV. But the best time for that fight has passed.

Khan cashed in with a megamoney fight against pumped-up featherweight Billy Dib in July in MORE than 5,000 would-be anglers have been introduced to the sport.

They came through National Fishing Month, with hundreds of events across the UK between July 26 and September 1.

Jeremy Wade, star of River Monsters, said: “This is a great way for people to learn the angling basics and appreciate the outdoors.” AFTER 11 bites and 11 small fish, it was 12th time lucky for Adam Perna in his hunt for a big perch. The Oxfordshire angler netted a superb 4lb perch with a quivertipped worm and maggot combination on the River Lea. (inset) (right)
