FEARS are growing for exCorrie star Denise Welch as she reveals her crippling battle with depression.

The TV favourite has uploaded videos to explain her condition “to those who are fortunate enough not to suffer”.

With her head wrapped in a bath towel she said: “As someone who professes to be a mental health advocate I have to share the bad times with you.

“I am in the midst of a mild episode of clinical depression and having the shower I’ve just had was very hard.

“There’s no joy in anything, no good news, no bad news, none of it makes any sense, it just doesn’t matter.

“Depression depresses every single emotion that you have so that there is a flatness and a void there.

“I’m trying to chronicle this journey so people who don’t understand can understand.

“Things I have to look forward to I don’t want to be part of and even just things I have to do this week I start stressing about maybe having to withdraw from something and maybe letting somebody down.”

She followed up with another video yesterday with the caption: “Today is a better day. No swirls. He’s leaving I hope.”

One fan responded: “You are such an inspiration.”

Another added: “Been battling the same thing, loved the way you explained it. Everyone says ‘cheer up man stop being so miserable,’ if only eh?”

Denise, 61, was backed by the mental health charity Mind which commended her “for sharing such an intimate insight into her experience”.

Her representative said she is being supported by family and friends.

The mum-of-two has been open about issues with depression, alcohol and drugs, which she detailed in her bestselling 2010 autobiography Pulling Myself Together. And in 2017, she made a 15-minute film titled Black Eyed Susan chronicling her problems.

Discussing her decision to make the film, Denise said: “It’s a bit like some people who love a drink aren’t good at playing drunks and I thought: ‘Am I going to be able to portray my depression truly?’”
