Hair loss torment of Street star Jack

- ■ by JAMES CAVEN

CORRIE star Jack P Shepherd has told how his mental health suffered and he considered quitting as the Street’s David Platt after he began losing his hair two years ago.

CORRIE star Jack P Shepherd says going bald made him consider quitting the acting profession.

Jack, 31, yesterday shared before and after pictures of his hair transplant which he had done nine months ago.

He wrote on Instagram: “This is the first time I’ve compared pictures to what I used to look like.

“I decided to get it done as it was affecting my mental health.

“To the point where I considered giving up acting and not being in the public eye.

“I remember seeing myself on screen and thinking: ‘Oh my God, it is really falling out.’

Concerns

“As an actor, my hair and my looks are crucial to my success and if I go bald then I am not going to be considered for younger roles as I get older.

“I know a lot of actors have similar concerns to me and are desperate to cover up their baldness. We need surgical help not because we are particularly vain but to protect our livelihoods as actors.

“I have always wanted to grow an Elvis quiff and now I have enough hair at the front of my hairline to have a go at one.” The actor, who plays David Platt, began to lose his hair following his split from childhood sweetheart Lauren Shippey two years ago.

He added: “My hair is 1,000% better and it is lovely to hear the positive comments.”

Corrie pal Alan Halsall, who has also had a hair transplant, said: “Looks brilliant mate.”
