PAGES OF FANTASTIC START WITH HORSE RACING FRANKIE FAVOURED

- ■ by CHRIS GOULDING

FRANKIE DETTORI will again be in the hot seat this weekend after it was confirmed yesterday that he will partner Emirates Cesarewitch Handicap favourite Buildmeupbuttercup.

Dettori will be hoping the expected soft ground at Newmarket will favour the Willie Mullins-trained mare unlike the testing conditions that denied victory for Enable in last Sunday’s Prixe de l’Arc de Triomphe.

On her latest appearance in this country, Buildmeupbuttercup – 5-1 with Hills – finished second behind The Grand Visir at Royal Ascot in June.

After that run she went down fighting when beaten a neck by Kastasa at Leopardstown last month – and Kastasa gave that form a timely boost by adding to that success in a Group Three event at the Curragh.

Mullins, successful in last year’s Cesarewitch with Low Sun, teamed up with Dettori to spring a surprise in the Irish Leger with Wicklow Brave in 2016.

Alan King is seeking consolation in the Cesarewitch after he was denied victory in last month’s Cambridgeshire when Beringer was caught close home by the Dettori-ridden Lord North.

King, successful in the race with Grumeti in 2015, is expected to saddle three runners.

The Wiltshire trainer is hoping

Who Dares Wins has recovered in time from his excellent fourth behind Holdthasigreen in last Saturday’s Prix Du Cadran at Longchamp.

He is expected to be joined by Rainbow Dreamer and Coeur De Lion.

“As long as I’m happy with Who Dares Wins, he will run,” said King.

“It was a very good run in France. I was pleased and they’ve put him up another 5lb so technically he’s well in.

“The other two will run as well providing they work well enough on the gallops today.”

Ranch Hand, backed from 10-1 to 8-1 with Hills, will be partnered by champion jockey elect Oisin Murphy. YOU’VE got to admire Josephine Gordon (below).

Relinquishing her role as main jockey to Hugo Palmer to go freelance was a bold decision back in February.

However, some might say it was a daft move as she has struggled for winners compared to the past two years.

But there is no doubting her ability in the saddle. Recently, she has struck up a fruitful partnership with Shaun Keightley and the pair should be followed at Newcastle.

TROUBLE SHOOTER (5.25) is only 3lb higher than when winning decisively at Kempton and can kick-start the evening of winners.

IMAGE OF THE MOON (7.55) won twice at Kempton before fi finding trou trouble in ru running last t time. She is running off the same rating.

The third l leg of the tre treble is

SHARP SHA TALK

(8 (8.25) 25) who finished his race off strongly last time.

The ground will be testing at Nottingham and DEINONYCHUS

(5.00) will love it. He is napped to gain a fourth course victory for Mick Appleby.
