Morph into a girl!

’Toon too male-heavy’

TELLY favourite Morph has been given a female sidekick by snowflake bosses.

They hope trendy Delilah will balance out the “male-heavy” clay cartoon cast.

Morph is the latest icon to fall foul of millennial meddlers.

Last week we told how Churchill Insurance ditched its gruff bulldog for a skateboarding version.

Morph and his pal Chas found fame with 70s TV artist Tony Hart.

The new series’ director Merlin Crossingham said: “Morph and Chas obviously are both boys and then we needed to bring Delilah into it, otherwise it was going to be quite male-heavy.” The show will be on Sky Kids next year with 15 new episodes. Delilah has been seen alongside Morph in the past but has now had a 21st-century revamp, including being given a trendy electric scooter.

Merlin said: “She used to be mumsy and had a bit of an oldfashioned hairstyle, so we’ve given her more of a funky hairstyle. She’s going to be the intelligent, tech-savvy, more upto-date one of the gang.”

He added: “We needed someone with some brains… there was no reason she shouldn’t be the one who is clever.”

WHY can’t people just leave things alone?

Morph is the latest victim of busybodies who are determined to interfere for the sake of it.

Generations of fans have grown up watching the classic children’s TV series. Its continued popularity clearly shows it is doing something right and that nothing needs to change.

If something works, it is best to leave it alone.

Yet bosses have decided to mess around anyway and will give Morph a PC-friendly female sidekick.

They hope the brainy character will balance out the “male-heavy” cast.

Have you ever heard such nonsense? It is almost as if they are worried about a backlash from the PC brigade unless they make changes.

They seem to be forgetting that they are only plasticine figures.

Get a grip!
