GIVE IT A WREST Tyson tells critics WWE is not easy, easy, easy!

TILL TO PUT HIS FOOT ON GAS

- ■ by DECLAN TAYLOR

TYSON FURY h has hit b back k at t critics who have branded his wrestling debut as an easy route out of boxing.

Fury has jetted off to Saudi Arabia and he will make his WWE bow against Braun Strowman on Halloween.

Many have questioned the Gypsy King’s motives, especially with the serious cut sustained against Otto Wallin in September still not fully healed.

But the 6ft 9in British heavyweight insists his sidestep into wrestling has been far more demanding than his boxing training.

He said: “It’s very taxing on the body, very hard work. I don’t take any impact in boxing, but wrestling you take impact every day, getting powerslammed, suplexed, everything you can think of.

“I’ve been getting chucked out of the ring too. It’s all just impact, impact, impact. It is painful, to say the least.

“I don’t get hit when I’m boxing really. I would say there is 100 times more impact than in boxing because I’m actually getting picked up and slammed onto a hard floor. I don’t ever get that in boxing, ever.

“I can honestly tell you that if I spar for 10 or 12 rounds, I might get hit five times. In this you’re getting impacted every day you train.

“Anyone who says wrestling is easier than boxing is full of s**t. They don’t know what they’re talking about.

“I thought I had a hard schedule boxing twice a year, being away in training camp for 10 weeks. These guys are away every day and wrestle five nights a week.”

A highly-anticipated rematch with Deontay Wilder has been pencilled in for February 22 in Las Vegas, provided the WBC champion beats Luis Ortiz on November 23.

And Fury has now confirmed that his wrestling career will not get in the way of him boxing on that suggested date, regardless of what happens to the bigpunching American.

Fury added: “If Wilder loses we will have to look for a new opponent for February 22.

“Either way,

February 22 in

Wilder or not.

“That’s for sure, providing I don’t get run over in the meantime. Whether the cut is OK or not, I will still be fighting February 22 because that’s what I do.” I’ll be Vegas, DARREN TILL is determined to silence his doubters by stopping Kelvin Gastelum in his eagerlyanticipated middleweight debut.

The pride of Liverpool will make his 185lb bow early on Sunday morning in the co-main event of UFC 244 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Till 26, faces the Ultimate Fighter season 17 winner on the back of consecutive losses to Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal. The Scouser was forced to reassess his entire approach to training following the first defeats of his career.

And his head coach Colin Heron believes those losses have lit a fire under the former welterweight title challenger. “I feel he’s a lot boxing whether on it’s more mature in the way he’s approaching things,” said the Team Kaobon chief.

“His confidence has always been very high, we know he’s a confidence-based fighter.

“But his focus is different. I can see a change in the way he’s thinking. Everything about him says he’s excited to fight again.

“He’s excited to get in there again and he’s excited to get in there and prove himself against this fighter that everyone is saying he can’t beat.

“I can see the fire’s building back in his belly. It’s really exciting to see.” Heron wasn’t keen on ‘The Gorilla’ facing Gastelum, saying: “Initially it was not the fight I wanted for his middleweight debut.

“We all know Gastelum is tough, we all know how hard he hits. He’s a cardio machine, he’s been around.

“He’s young himself but is very experienced at the top level. He’s a hell of a welcome to the division. It’s definitely a baptism of fire.”

Although he had his doubts about the bout, Heron is confident Till is capable of finishing the durable American.

He said: “The only way Kelvin can win really is to pressure Darren. But he’s got to close that range.

“What Darren’s got to do is not let that happen. He has got to enforce his will on the night.

“We have to wait and see. But if Gastelum gets frustrated, it won’t end well for him.”
