ELEVEN Brits were among 33 injured when a Paris-to-London bus overturned in France.

The vehicle skidded in wet conditions and flipped on to its side on the A1 at Estrées-Deniécourt, in the northern Somme. Passengers from the US, Spain, Australia, Netherlands, Romania, Russia and France were also on the service run by FlixBus, a low-cost firm based in Germany.

Most of the injuries were not serious and about half of those hurt were expected to leave hospital after brief treatment. Local police tweeted a picture of the bus on its side with its front window smashed.

A FEMALE prisoner claims she was sexually assaulted by a transgender inmate.

She claimed her alleged attacker – who was sent to a women’s jail after identifying as female – groped her breasts in the toilets.

The alleged victim was moved to another prison only to find the trans lag had been transferred there too – and they would share accommodation.

Now the woman has launched a High Court bid for a judicial review of policy regarding treatment of transgender inmates convicted of sexual and violent crimes against women.

Policy

She believes it is unlawful to place them in women’s prisons without adequately protecting female lags. Her application also challenges policy over the running of a trans unit at HMP Downview, a women’s jail in Surrey.

The claim states there has been “at least one other high-profile case of a convicted sex offender being moved into the female prison estate on the basis of their gender self-identification and that prisoner having gone on to sexually assault female prisoners”.

The inmate cannot be named as she is an alleged sex assault victim.

Dr Nicola Williams, director of Fair Play for Women – which has warned Britain may need a transgender jail – said: “We welcome this application to the court to grant a judicial review.”
