Plenty of fizz for Nick

- ■ by JASON HEAVEY

CHAMPAGNE COURT ended Nick Scholfield’s Sandown drought with a smooth success on his chasing debut.

The rider had gone 1,828 days without a win at the Esher track.

But Jeremy Scott’s six-year-old never looked in danger in the Virgin Bet Follow Us On Twitter Novices’ Handicap Chase.

He looked a natural on his chasing debut.

Scholfield said: “I rode plenty of nice winners for Paul Nicholls and I won the Tolworth, which was my first Grade One winner, so it is great to get another winner here again.

“I always thought Champagne Court would be an exciting prospect for chasing.” TODAY’S meeting at Stratford was called off due to waterlogging and Fairyhouse hinges on a 7.30am inspection.
