BIFFY Clyro have branded poprock gods Fleetwood Mac “cheeky b ***** ds” for snubbing next year’s Glastonbury over money.
Scottish rockers Biffy have insisted the Mac cannot be short of a few quid after decades at the top of the music game. And they say they should respect fans and the festival by taking up the offer to perform at its 50th anniversary.
Biffy frontman
Simon Neil told me:
“Look at Fleetwood
Mac. There’s not enough money for them, those cheeky b ***** ds!
“It is isn’t it? such It’s a shame not in the spirit of Glastonbury, it’s not about the money.
“If the Rolling Stones can do it, Kanye did it, U2. And you are telling me Fleetwood Mac can’t? F*** it, no way.” Although organiser Emily Eavis has ruled out Fleetwood Mac playing next year, I hear there’s a good chance Stevie Nicks, inset, will make a solo appearance. The vocalist has a number of European solo dates lined up for next summer with a Glasto-shaped hole in the schedule. If they can get her former sidekick, Lindsey Buckingham, to sign up solo as well, that would be better than the current Mac line-up anyway! And Biffy teased they’ll be at Worthy Farm to watch it too.
When I asked if they have been booked, Simon smiled: “That would be telling wouldn’t it?”
And his dream headliner for 2020? “I would love Nick Cave to do it. He has become such an icon in the last decade and made some of his best music,” Simon gushed.
“That would be a wonderful moment at Glastonbury. He could really hold that crowd.”
