SO WHERE’S OUR TOP HOTEL THEN?

Five-star nightmare

A PARTY arrived in Egypt for a dream holiday to find their five-star hotel had not even been built.

Mark Mould, 33, booked the £3,500 two-week break to Crystal Beach Aqua Park and Hotel through travel agent Love Holidays.

But when he arrived with wife Sarah, 50, friend Natalie Barnes, 40, and her children Kyziah, 15 and Ty, 13, they discovered the construction of the luxury site had not been completed.

The distraught group from Gainsborough, Lincs, were then moved to another hotel, Paradise Golden 5 – which was due to be demolished.

Industrial electrician Mark said: “It was a rollercoaster of disaster, tears and sickness.

“We all felt wholeheartedly that we had been sold an expensive dream and been served a crumbling nightmare.

“It was fraud on a grand scale from a large company that clearly has no morals.”

The hotel they booked is advertised as a five-star resort in Hurghada on the Red Sea.

But it turned out that the hotel had not been finished despite it being listed on the Love Holidays website.

Instead they were transferred to its sister hotel, which was due to be pulled down and had broken furniture and dirty floors. On exploring the hotel further the group found walls and ceilings half-demolished and dirty swimming pools.

After days of complaining they were moved to Titanic Hotel, which demanded £11,000 on their arrival.

Love Holidays has apologised and have reached a final settlement to cover the party’s costs and inconvenience.

A spokesman for the travel agent said: “Unfortunately we were let down in this instance by the hotel supplier, which insisted the original hotel would be ready to accept guests – which was clearly not the case.”

The hotel has since been taken down from the Love Holidays website, although it can still be booked through other tour providers.
