A MUM found out that she had won the lottery 10 minutes after discovering she had beaten breast cancer.

Lynne Price was given the all clear moments before husband David called to say they had won £1million.

The 55-year-old, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2015, then hugged her husband before enjoying a long soak to let the good news sink in.

Mum-of-three Lynne said: “I’d just read the letter saying I had the all-clear when David came home from work to say we’d won the lottery.

“I can’t tell you what I said – it’s too rude – but I was in total shock.

“I was shaking and totally lost for words, which never happens.

Windfall

“I went and had a bath for two hours and just lay there trying to take it all in.”

British Airways worker David, 53, checked his ticket at work to discover he and Lynne had won the windfall on Euromillions Millionaire Maker.

David said: “I went home to tell Lynne but she had some big news of her own. The letter saying she had the all-clear is worth more than a million to me.”

Laundry worker Lynne underwent treatment after her diagnosis and had a check-up scan in October.

The couple are now planning to take their entire family to China next month during the General Election.

They will also soon be celebrating their 33rd wedding anniversary.

The couple, from New Tredegar, Gwent, also revealed it is the third huge lottery win their family has experienced.

They are distant relatives of Ade Goodchild, 58, who won £71m on Euromillions in March.

And David’s sister Judith was part of a Cardiff cigar factory syndicate that won back in the 1990s.

Wales rugby fan David, who is nicknamed “Lucky Dai” by work colleagues, said: “It’s amazing to have three big winners in one family. You put your money on but you don’t really expect to win a million.”

THAT’S what you call a lucky day. Lynne Price discovered she had won the lottery – just 10 minutes after being told she had beaten breast cancer. It’s hard to imagine how she must have been feeling. What an incredible story. No-one could begrudge Lynne the double whammy of good fortune. The mum of three had feared for her future after being diagnosed with cancer in 2015. But now she can look forward to a very rosy one. Lynne and husband David are already planning a luxury holiday to China. And they have vowed to make the most of their £1million Euromillions jackpot. The money will change their lives. But the letter telling Lynne she is cancer free is worth even more.

Good luck to them.
