STAR’S PLEA FOR RETURN

-

A CHARITY special of Bargain Hunt has shattered the auction show’s record.

Joe Pasquale, Paul Zerdin, the 2015 ventriloquist winner of America’s Got Talent, Debbie McGee and Richard Cadell, the hand of puppet Sooty since 1998, signed up to raise cash for Children In Need along with some puppets.

And they managed to rack up almost £20,000 — the biggest total ever seen on the show.

CORRIE legend Angela Griffin wants to make a soap comeback after 21 years.

The actress reprised her role as Fiona Middleton for a brief cameo this summer and it’s left her eyeing a full-time return.

She said: “Corrie holds such a big place in my heart.

“I was my daughter’s age when I first started on it. But even now after all these years I still absolutely love it.

“It’s very tempting to go back and just stay there forever and a day. I’m open to the idea of that. My character isn’t dead so the door is open.

“There was talk about making it happen this year but it couldn’t because the dates didn’t work out. But it could happen in the future.”

Angela’s cameo earlier this year saw her appear via an internet video call on Skype from Australia.

Fiona was brought back by bosses as part of Steve McDonald’s lovechild plot.

The scenes revealed he is the dad of Fiona’s daughter Emma, played by Alexandra Mardell.

Angela said: “Because Fiona is now living in Australia it wouldn’t have made sense for her to be back for just one episode. So it had be by Skype.

“I only filmed a few scenes. It had to be brief because I’m filming something else at the moment.”

Being back on the Corrie set after two decades away was tearful for Angela.

She added: “I found it all very emotional. My on-screen daughter is now living in the flat Fiona used to live in.

“So when I walked in, it was the set I used to film in.

“It was loads of fun being back.”

See it all tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
