FRANK YOU SO MUCH
Wilson’s debt to Lamps
HARRY WILSON has thanked Frank Lampard for helping turn him into a Premier League star.
But the Bournemouth winger, on loan from Liverpool, is still desperate to shoot down Lampard’s Chelsea tomorrow.
Wilson has kept in touch with Lampard after his loan spell in the Championship at Derby last term.
He hit 18 goals as the Rams just missed out on promotion to the Premier League in the play-off final.
Wilson’s heroics, including a superb free-kick in a Carabao Cup win at Manchester United, earned him a seasonlong loan at top-flight Bournemouth.
He has gone on to net six times for the Cherries and has ex-England ace Lampard in his sights at Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old Welsh international said: “I still keep in contact with Frank Lampard, I owe him a lot.
“He was fantastic for me last season, probably the most important one in my career so far, the one where I played regular football.
“To play under a legend like him, he taught me a lot and so I owe him a lot. It’s great to see him doing so well at Chelsea now.”
After leaving Derby for Chelsea in the summer, Lampard has guided them to fourth in the Premier League and into the knockout stages of the Champions League.
The Blues will be favourites tomorrow, with Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side on a worrying run of five successive losses.
It has seen them slip to 15th, but Wilson says the side are anxious to improve on last season’s final position of 14th on 45 points.
Wilson added: “The lads want to finish higher than last season.
“They were a bit disappointed with the way their season finished, so if we can improve on their points tally and position from last year, that will be a successful season.”
Wilson has been linked with a possible permanent swap deal, which could see Ryan Fraser head to Anfield next month.
