WE’VE got two pretty decent dramas competing for our attention tonight in the 9pm slot.

On ITV, there’s STICKS AND STONES, a new three-parter going out between now and Wednesday, about a salesman suffering a meltdown – and becoming increasingly convinced that his colleagues are out to destroy him. Written by Dr Foster creator Mike Bartlett, it features Ken Nwosu as the main guy, Tom, with Ben Miller playing his boss.

Over on BBC Two meanwhile, there’s RESPONSIBLE CHILD, a powerful 90-minute one-off that’s based on a true story. It’s about a 12-year-old kid standing trial for murder after he and his older brother have stabbed their violent stepfather to death. Ray, the lad himself, is played by Billy Barrett, with James Tarpey taking the role of protective sibling Nathan, nearly twice his age. Other stars include Tom Burke, Stephen Campbell Moore and Shaun Dingwall.

On a lighter note, this year’s WORLD’S STRONGEST MAN 2019 gets underway tonight at 7pm on Channel 5, while over on

ITV2 there’s the new three-parter THE BOXER & THE BALLROOM DANCER (9pm), which sees ex-Love Islanders Tommy Fury and Curtis Prichard trying to get to grips with each other’s specialist talents.

Lastly, if you’re desperate for a bit of Mary Berry – which I don’t suppose you are, but I’m going to tell you about it anyway – there’s A BERRY ROYAL CHRISTMAS (8.30pm, BBC One), where the legendary food lady teams up with Kate and Wills to throw a star-studded do for charity workers.
