Bangers bang on

Telly host shows off a massive booze bill

PIERS Morgan showed off the eye-watering drinks bill for his Christmas party – including £4,200 spent on 60 bottles of Bollinger champagne.

Cricketer Kevin Pietersen had joked the TV host was a “fraud” for serving prosecco instead of champers.

And that led Piers, 54, to brag about the pricey evening. He tweeted the tab and said: “I only serve Bollinger... You just can’t taste the difference.”

Other drinks visible on the list included 16 bottles of Edwin Fox Sauvignon Blanc, 15 bottles of Peroni and eight bottles of London Pride.

Return

But his boasting did not go down well with many of his Twitter followers.

One wrote: “Oooo look at me. I have money. I’ll show everyone how I splash it on twitter.”

A second added: “I’m all for everyone having a night out... but plastering your receipt is a tad insensitive. Some people really struggling out there.”

This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby tweeted she’d had a “tactical cheese sandwich” to avoid getting drunk during the raucous knees-up at west London’s The Scarsdale Tavern.

And Piers’s Good Morning Britain costar Kate Garraway left the bash early after oversleeping and missing her return to the show the day before.

Other party guests included pregnant Sheridan Smith and fiancé Jamie Horn, Susanna Reid and Gary Lineker.

NOW things may look bleak when you’re stuck in traffic with restless kids kicking up a fuss in the back or fighting for a seat on a packed train.

Believe us, we get it. Horrible weather is set to bring travel misery to millions over the festive period.

It’s hard to stomach.

But never fear – because there’s a twinkling Christmas light at the end of the tunnel.

In just a few days time you’ll be sat around a table tucking into turkey with loved ones.

All will be forgotten after opening some presents, helping yourself to another roast potato and putting your feet up in front of some cracking Christmas telly.

Is there anything better? We love it. So be safe out there.

And enjoy the most magical time of the year.
