TEARS OF A LEGEND

- by ANDREW JAMESON

AILING rock legend Ozzy Osbourne is planning a trip to Switzerland for treatment after revealing in a joint interview with wife Sharon that he has the degenerative brain disease Parkinson’s.

OZZY Osbourne has revealed he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in the “most miserable” year of his life.

The Prince Of Darkness said he had “numbness” in an arm “and my legs are going cold”.

The 71-year-old is now planning a desperate trip to Switzerland for treatment after running out of healthcare options in America.

And if that doesn’t work his family are prepared to “go wherever we can to find answers”.

In an emotional interview on Good Morning America alongside his tearful wife Sharon yesterday, Ozzy admitted he wanted to “own up” to his fans about his health struggles.

He revealed he is on “a host of medication” following neck surgery after a fall which put him in hospital last year. But doctors also diagnosed him with a mild form of Parkinson’s.

The rock icon said it had been a “terribly challenging” year.

Ozzy said: “(It has been the) worst, longest, most painful, miserable year of my life.”He added: “A year ago I was in a terrible state. I’m on a host of medication, mainly for the surgery.

“I’ve got numbness down this arm and my legs are going cold.

“I don’t know if it’s the Parkinson’s or what. That’s the problem.”

Sharon said: “There are so many different types of Parkinson’s.

“It’s not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination but it does affect the nerves in your body. It’s like you’ll have a good day, then a good day and then a really bad day.”

Ozzy said: “To hide something is hard – you never feel proper.

“You feel guilty. I’m no good with secrets. I feel better now that I have owned up to the fact that I have a case of Parkinson’s.”

Sharon said they would “go wherever we can to find answers” to help Ozzy, including a trip to Switzerland in April to see a specialist.
