THAT’S HEC OF A FINISH!

-

A NIGHTMARE comeback for David Luiz. But a dream one for Hector Bellerin.

Luiz was once called a Playstation footballer and his return to Chelsea could not have gone worse if Frank Lampard himself had had the controls.

Bombed out after a bust-up with Lampard in the summer, Arsenal’s surprise £8m signing got booed, gave away a penalty and then got sent off – all inside 26 minutes.

Shkodran Mustafi’s woeful backpass put Luiz in trouble and led to his foul on Tammy Abraham, resulting in a penalty which Jorginho scored.

But rising star Gabriel Martinelli looked like sparing his blushes when he became the first teenager to score 10 goals in a season for Arsenal since Nicolas Anelka in 1998-99.

Cesar Azilicueta then put Chelsea back in front – only for Bellerin to nick another equaliser on his first game back from injury since December 5 in a frantic, dramatic London derby.

The last time Arsenal won a league game here, a 5-3 victory in October 2011, new Gunners boss Mikel Arteta started the game and Lampard scored Chelsea’s opening goal.

They arrived at the Bridge without suspended striker and captain PierreEmerick Aubameyang – but will have fancied their chances as Chelsea had already lost at home to Bournemouth, West Ham and Southampton.

It was niggly from the off. Luiz took out Abraham, Lucas Torreira tussled with Azpilicueta and Mustafi blocked a Mateo Kovacic shot in the most painful way possible.

And it took a Mustafi special to gift Chelsea the lead. Arsenal fans have seen it too many times and it was another howler from the German. Luiz chased Abraham down but only ended up hauling down the England striker and getting sent off, with Jorginho finding the bottom corner from the spot.

Strangely, Arsenal finished the half much more strongly, pinning the home side back for long spells without actually laying a glove on them.

Arteta was so impressed that he ditched his plan to throw on Rob Holding, letting Granit Xhaka continue
