We won’t be CRESS fallen

AARON: HAMMERS UP FOR SURVIVAL FIGHT

- ■ by PAUL BROWN

AARON CRESSWELL says a series of clear-the-air meetings have focused minds at West Ham as they gear up for their game of the season.

Skipper Mark Noble led the inquest after the Hammers were dumped out of the FA Cup by 10-man West Brom last weekend, and they responded with a better performance against Liverpool.

But Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat left them outside the bottom three on just goal difference ahead of tomorrow’s huge home clash with relegation rivals Brighton.

Cresswell said: “There are certain words that get said in that dressing room all the time. You won’t hear them.

“But I can assure you now that everyone is fully focused and understands the job ahead. We have to stick together – everyone involved at West Ham.

“We have to do our best now until the end of the season. It’s not just the thing with Nobes, there is plenty more gets said. We have to stay positive no matter what.

“There is no point us being negative and saying: ‘Oh, we have a tough game now.’ We have got to go into every game and look to maximise points.

“If we perform like that from now until the end of the season we will be fine. On another day we take one of those chances and it is a completely different game. In reality we all know we’re in a relegation battle.

“We have got to stay positive and make sure, come the end of the season, we are well clear of that bottom three.

“We’re looking forward to the Brighton game and obviously it is massive.

“There’s pressure whether it’s Brighton or Liverpool. Every game counts.”

New loan signing Tomas Soucek could make his debut, and the Hammers are also targeting Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose.
