Peter Kay’s dance party
Returns in charity tour
PETER Kay last night announced his showbiz comeback after two years away from the limelight.
The comic is to return to host a series of Dance For Life gigs in aid of Cancer Research UK.
The three-hour shows will see venues turned into massive club nights as crowds take part in sponsored dance-a-thons.
Peter, 46, will act as DJ while his Car Share co-star Sian Gibson, 43, will also feature.
He has hardly been seen in public since cancelling a 109-gig £40million sell-out UK stand-up tour due to “unforeseen family circumstances” in 2017.
It will be his first stage appearance since he gave a brief introduction to a charity screening of the last episode of the smashhit TV show at Blackpool Opera House in April 2018.
Peter said last night: “I have honestly never had so much fun as I had working on Dance For Life.
“The atmosphere was so happy and positive. It really is a great way to raise money. All people have to do is turn up and dance.
“I’d also like to encourage people to get themselves sponsored via JustGiving.com.’’
A spokesman for event organisers SJM said: “We can’t wait to bring the party to new venues.’’
Caro Evans, of Cancer Research UK, said the events were “vital”. She added: “We need as many people as possible to join Peter and make a difference.’’
The £28.50 tickets, which go on sale at 9am on Friday, are expected to sell within minutes.
The tour kicks off on April 10 at Manchester Central and include Liverpool’s M&S Arena and London’s Alexandra Palace.
One fan wrote online: “Aah great news – love this funny talented man, hoping all is well with him and his family.’’
Another posted: “If ever this country needed a laugh it’s now.
“Praise the Lord for PK!!’’
