Rodgers sure ton to come

De Bruyne penalty wins it as Ramos sees red

finding the back of the net was Guardiola when in charge of Barcelona in 2011, the year he last lifted the trophy.

He might have delivered five trophies since taking charge, including five of the last six domestic ones available, but landing the biggest one of all was what he was hired for and it has eluded him, piling the pressure on like never before.

Throw into the mix the European ban and this could well prove to be his last crack as City boss.

City threatened first on 21 minutes when De Bruyne picked out Jesus in space but his powerful strike was well blocked by Thibaut Courtois before De Bruyne blazed high and wide himself.

But Real should have gone ahead on 31 minutes when Karim Benzema’s downward header was parried into the path of Vinicius Jnr by Ederson but the winger slipped at the crucial moment to waste a glorious chance.

Casemiro hacked Jesus’ shot off his own line on the stroke of half-time and City continued the pressure after the break when Riyad Mahrez was denied by the excellent Courtois.

The stalemate was finally broken on the hour mark by Isco, who produced a clinical finish to punish City after Walker’s defensive error had gifted the ball to Vinicius Jnr.

But City climbed off the canvas to stun home fans when Jesus rose above Ramos to head in the equaliser before Dani Carvajal felled Sterling and De Bruyne made no mistake from the spot. twice

CRISTIANO RONALDO’S dream of Champions League glory with three different teams is in jeopardy.

Lucas Tousart’s volley gave the hosts – seventh in Ligue 1 – a first-leg lead over Juventus.

Houssem Aouar set up the on-loan Hertha Berlin man to beat ex-Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny after half an hour.

Ronaldo cut a frustrated figure, with Maurizio Sarri’s Italian champions seeing Paulo Dybala’s late strike ruled out for offside.

JAMIE VARDY is not suffering from the ‘nervous 90s’ – despite his barren run.

That is the view of Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers, even with the striker being stuck on 97 Premier League goals and failing to score in his last nine games.

Ahead of Leicester’s visit to Norwich tomorrow, Rodgers said: “He doesn’t look like the nervous type to me.

“I have no doubt he will get the goals and go beyond that. Sometimes you get a wee run like this.

“When he came back from his injury he was maybe not quite up to speed. But I think you saw against Manchester City the return of that running power and speed.

“As long as he is contributing, because it is not just about goals, it is the bigger picture.”

Rodgers confirmed fellow striker Kelechi Iheanacho is available for selection after Leicester followed concussion protocols when he was subbed against City after taking a blow to the head.

He also revealed the club have also opened contract talks with title-winning veterans Christian Fuchs, 33, and Wes Morgan, 36, who are out of contract this summer.
