TOUCHING TV TRIBUTE

- ■ by JERRY LAWTON jerry.lawton@dailystar.co.uk

DANNY Cipriani will lead out his rugby team wearing “be kind” armbands in memory of ex-girlfriend Caroline Flack.

He is determined “lessons must be learned” and a “positive legacy” created after the Love Island host took her own life.

His team-mates have agreed to take part in an emotional tribute to the TV presenter before their match tonight, which will be screened live on BT Sport.

Before her death, Caroline had written on Instagram: “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.’’

Cipriani's team Gloucester have had armbands embossed with the words “Be Kind” for their tribute to encourage people to think twice before making critical and hurtful comments on social platforms and in the media.

In an emotional video last week, Cipriani revealed he once tried to buy a gun to kill himself during his own mental health struggles.

Gloucester has dedicated tonight's match against Sale Sharks to “shining a light on mental health and promoting kindness”.

Danny, 32, said: “Caroline was one of the most caring, genuine people I ever met.”

The two dated after her engagement to Apprentice star Andrew Brady ended last year. They stayed pals after their romance ended before Caroline started seeing tennis player Lewis Burton.

She was awaiting trial for allegedly assaulting Lewis when she took her own life, aged 40.
