Memories of Carrie, smiles...but tears

MUM’S FUNERAL THANKS

- ■ by ANDREW JAMESON andrew.jameson@dailystar.co.uk

CAROLINE Flack’s heartbroken family have revealed her private funeral was full of “memories, smiles but mostly tears”.

The tragic Love Island host was laid to rest at a service with 200 guests that lasted for nearly two hours at a forest in her native Norfolk.

Mum Chris thanked pals from “all over the world” and from shows including I’m A Celebrity, X Factor, Strictly and Bake Off for coming to remember the star, who took her own life last month.

Mrs Flack told her local newspaper about the service, which had been kept fiercely private: “There were lots of memories, smiles but mostly tears as we all remembered Carrie and the joy she had brought to all of our lives.

“All the family would like to say thank you so much to all Carrie’s friends who travelled from all over the world to be there that day and who appreciated why we wanted to bring her back home to Norfolk.” She added: “Her friends from schooldays, college days and present day also gathered to exchange stories and pay tributes to my beautiful girl.”

Caroline’s funeral took place last Tuesday at Greenacres at Colney, near Norwich, a ceremonial park set in a 16-acre forest. Her close friend Keith Lemon made T-shirts for charity which the family wore on the day.

Wishes

X Factor star Lucie Jones sang two songs – She Used To Be Mine from the Waitress musical plus a number written for Caroline by her friend Ciara called The Sulking Room.

Guests then attended a wake at local pub the Black Horse.

Mrs Flack also thanked the media for the privacy given to family and friends on the day. She said: “All online activity was stopped for the day with no phones seen anywhere at the service or the wake.

“No photos have been posted of that day by anyone at the wake and I thank every one for respecting the family’s wishes.”

Caroline’s grieving boyfriend Lewis Burton – who she had been charged with assaulting – yesterday told on social media how hard life was without her.

He wrote: “I wake up and think you’re going to be laying next to me or you’re going to call in a minute.

“It just doesn’t seem real. I wish I could give you a kiss and a cuddle and say everything is going to be ok.

“I am so grateful I met you. I just want to make you proud.”
