On tonight’s celebrity special for Stand Up To Cancer, the judge – who tweeted the winner of the show in 2017 before it aired – puts her foot in it again.

In the technical challenge, the bakers always submit their creations for Prue and Paul Hollywood to taste before they debate in private who has won.

star Martin Compston fears for the crime show now it’s moved from BBC Two to BBC One.

Ratings for the police anti-corruption drama went through the roof last year following its shift to the main Beeb channel.

But Compston, who plays DC Steve Arnott, claims the serial was at its best in the early days on BBC Two.

He says the famous interview room scenes with him, Vicky Mcclure as DI Kate Fleming and Adrian Dunbar as Supt Ted Hastings exposing bent coppers were the key element that brought drama and tension.

Compston tells Radio Times: “My favourite ones were the first three, when we were on BBC Two, because I feel they were more subtle. Then you go on to BBC One, it’s a bigger audience and it’s car chases and whatever.”

He added: “Now we’re establishe­d on BBC One, I hope we can go back to what we were on BBC Two when the dramas were all in the massive interview scenes and in back alleys.”
