Bruno will be knockout

DIOGO DALOT has backed Bruno Fernandes to become a Man United legend.

Fernandes, yesterday named as the Premier League Player of the Month for February, has made a stunning impact at Old Trafford since joining them from Sporting Lisbon in January for a fee of that could reach £67.3m.

The Portuguese midfielder has been instrumental in helping United go on an unbeaten run of 11 games before the coronavirus crisis forced the football season to be halted.

Fernandes, 25, has netted three goals in his opening nine games to compliment a string of impressive displays.

Team-mate Dalot is convinced Fernandes is destined for greatness during his career with United and will go on to become an even better player.

The full-back said: “He’s a top guy, a top player. He is going to be legend. He’s unbelievable,

ROCK-BOTTOM Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace has launched a rescue plan to save the elderly from the coronavirus – even if it bankrupts the club.

Propping up the entire league, and eight points adrift of safety, Boro are struggling on the pitch.

But Wallace’s call to save housebound OAPS, who are set to be told to stay indoors for up to four months by the Government, has sent Stevenage top of the table for their community spirit.

He intends to mobilise the club’s catering staff, young players and volunteers to distribute food to stranded over-70s in the town.

But he admits he has no idea how long Boro can survive financially when he rolls out that lifeline.

In more than 20 years minding the shop at the Lamex stadium – where he has presided over cup shocks, two promotions and 12 managers – this is probably Wallace’s finest hour.

He said: “We have always prided ourselves on being a community club and now it is time to show what that means. We will start work on the he can get better of course as well.

“He’s going to learn a lot from this club. He is a massive player to have in this team and he’s going to be a very good player for this club.

“He’s going to be (a legend), no doubt about that. He was the captain at Sporting so of course he’s an experienced player as well.

“He’s 25 years old, he’s played in Italy, he played in Portugal as well. He knows what he is doing. It’s going to be very good for him.”
