CHRIS WILDER laid the foundations for Sheffield United’s incredible season with his “Terror Tuesdays” pre-season sessions.

The workouts took the whole squad to new levels, according to wing-back George Baldock, who has played in all their 28 Premier League games and says every player has never been fitter.

Baldock said: “Terror Tuesdays? Oh, that’s not nice.

“It’s a really clever way to test the side’s mental strength because the balls aren’t there on that day. The whole week the manager (inset) would be talking about it, walking past you in the breakfast room and saying, ‘Not long till Tuesday, get your running spikes on’.

“You’re going out in 25 degree heat, full-size pitch, and he’ll put you in groups, no shortcuts.

“So it’s tight, competitive and the 11-a-side pitch was split into six, a pole in each corner. You have to start with a jog, get to the pole and then it was run as quick as you can for one minute, jog for five, run as quick as you can for two, jog for four, run as quick as you can for three, jog for three, all the way round the pitch.

“It was a clever way to test how mentally strong you are.

“He doesn’t mind if you’re not strong at running, he just wants to see you go to the absolute max.”

OUMAR NIASSE could have played his last game for Everton after being stopped and reported by the police.

The striker was pulled over on Wednesday night as he drove his Mercedes through Manchester.

He was reported by the police for not wearing his seat belt and for obstructing officers.

Niasse, 29, had a friend and two women inside the motor with him at a time when the Government has ordered the nation to avoid non-essential travel.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police said: “At around 9.30pm on Wednesday, covert officers on patrol in the Withington area of Manchester stopped a vehicle on Whitchurch Road.

“The driver of the vehicle was reported for failing to wear a seatbelt and obstructing police officers.”

The Toffees flop, signed by Roberto Martinez in February 2016 from Lokomotiv Moscow for £13.5m, is not part of boss Carlo Ancelotti’s plans and is expected to leave when his contract expires in June.
